I use primarily Fujifilm gear with the occasional shot taken on my iPhone 16 pro.
The X-T3 as a main camera body with the smaller and lighter X-E3 as a backup and travel/street camera.
I use a range of primes and zooms depending on the situation and the current list includes :-
- 10-24mm f4
- 18-55mm f/2.8-4
- 18mm f2,
- 27mm f2.8
- 56mm f1.2
- 60mm f2.4
- 100-400 f/4.5-5.6
The why?
After having been a die hard Canon EOS fan for many years I eventually transitioned over to the RF system but found it increasingly unsatisfactory. The main issues being weight and cost.
And so began a grail quest to find a replacement system. What I really wanted from the get go was a camera system that offered different sized bodies, with lens compatibility across the whole range and, of course, produced high quality images.
So…. after toying with Canon’s M format, I moved onto the micro four thirds format. Now in fairness, this very nearly stuck and the system as a whole did fulfil several requirements – a variety of body sizes and a lot less weight. However, after a few tests I just wasn’t happy with the image quality.
Not long later a good friend of mine showed me his X-T3. I admit I was a little sceptical at first. The layout of the camera being slightly different to my previous equipment. But the more I held it and shot with it the more I liked it. And the rest is pretty much history.
I bought my first X-T3 and an added the lenses as I went. Then I bought the smaller X-E3 for holidays, travel and street work. Quest complete !
I now had a complete camera system where all the bodies can use all the lenses, everything is mix and match. The weight of the system overall is much less and best of all, the quality is fabulous – both in terms of the physical gear and the images it produces.
